From the co-writer of “Outrageous Fortune” and “The Almighty Johnsons” comes …
You’re a writer for a popular television soap . . . but the ratings are falling and your job’s on the line. What do you do?
Get creative and kill off the weakest character in a block-busting storyline, that’s what.
But what do you do if the actor refuses to go? Call the producer? Call the Union? Call a meeting? Call the police. Because he’s armed and dangerous (at least that what it says in his ‘how to take a hostage’ instruction manual.)
This mercurial and irrepressible comedy follows the six writers of “Heart of Hearts,” a fast- paced medical drama, as they cope with their daily routine of jealousy, lies, lust, betrayal, revenge and sometimes even scriptwriting. Until the action-packed moment when the ‘table of pain’ is turned on them.

Is a soap opera just a mirror to our lives . . . or maybe what we secretly wish our lives to be? Either way, NZ writer James Griffin’s dry wit and irreverent style means you’ll never watch TV in the same way again.
