Ladies For Hire - Stagecraft Wellington

Ladies for Hire
Written by: Alison Quigan
Performed by: Stagecraft Theatre
Directed by: Claire Hewitt
Season: 30 May to 9 June 2012
Performance Venue: The Gryphon Theatre, Ghuznee St, Wellington

The women of the St Mary’s Choir may look as if they’d just like a nice cup of tea and some home baking, but their lively and often irreverent behaviour offends new priest, Father Paul. Disturbed by their disrespectful attitudes, he unceremoniously sacks them. But the girls aren't quite ready to be sacked.

With an unexpectedly misleading advert and a we-can-do-anything attitude, these ladies put themselves up for hire, but soon find themselves caught up in all sorts of choral adventures, a long way from the safety of the church choir.

Alison Quigan has composed a fun arrangement of memorable characters, who demonstrate, through some hilarious and harrowing exploits, the priceless value of friendship and true loyalty.
